Ready, Set, SING!
by Sue Jakes

If you are a teacher or parent without any musical ability, you no longer have an excuse not to sing with your children! There are CD's and songbooks available with all of the music for the Toddler, Preschool, Younger and Middle Elementary Show Me Jesus curriculum.

Incorporate worship in your class:

  1. Have the CD playing as your students enter the classroom. You can lead the children in singing along with the children's chorus or the instrumental accompaniment. Introduce new songs as they are suggested in the curriculum, and repeat the ones you've already learned so the children become comfortable singing together.
  2. Order a songbook for each student to take home. Readers will be able to follow along and younger ones will learn as they become familiar with the songs. Encourage parents to use the songs during the week—give them a schedule showing when each song will be learned. You might also tell the parents about the CD so they can buy one to use at home.
  3. When they have learned an entire quarter's songs, combine the singing with their Scripture memory and present a program reflecting what they have learned. Your class could present the program for parents before class on Sunday morning at a nearby retirement home or to another Sunday school class to encourage them.
