Show Me Jesus Curriculum - Teacher Preparation

GCP

• PREPARE YOUR HEART—Look at next week's Scripture lesson while the manual is still open. When you know what is coming next, you have time to pray and let the Sprit teach you. Collect materials early so that you will not be harried.

• PREPARE THE BIBLE LESSON—Don't assume that you know the story. Read the Scripture, read the "Heart Preparation" and pray for the children in your class. Familiarize yourself with the age-appropriate version of the story in your book so that you can tell it without being tied to the teacher's guide.

• PREPARE YOUR CLASSROOM—Take time to eliminate clutter, rearrange space and make the room a place that is inviting and involving. Have visuals up ahead of class.

• PREPARE THE MATERIALS—Have them stacked and ready in the order of use. It can be very difficult to refocus children's attention when they have waited for you to organize the next activity.

• PREPARE YOUR WORDS—Hearing words of encouragement from other members of Christ's church is one way that God builds us up to carry out his purposes. Consider how you can be an encourager ... to your fellow teachers, to those who support and help you in teaching, to your students!

• PREPARE TO SEE GOD WORK—Have high expectations for changed lives as you disciple children.
